    Well done. Excellent re-use of a dead TV lens… A house “needing” 30 Kw-Hr/Day is a tad greedy , I live on 0.2 to 0.5 Kw/Hr daily. But I’m a Hillbilly , & quite frugal… I taught my car to use 33% less fuel by fitting a streamlined P.V. & regulator , to unload the Battery from the Crankshaft… Check the “SunFoil Short-talk (Update)” clip , among My Movies. Includes the CSIRO evaluation (Commonwealth Scientific Industrial Research Organisation – Australian). Ciao…

    electric bill 200 dollars
    using solar power priceless.

    @MrAppleseed88 The vanadium battery is what you are looking for. It is coming soon, if it is not suppressed. Search it.

    in my county power company got smart and change miters ,that you can not feed power back to the grid ,to do so they have to install special miter and all the equipment must bi certified ,+cost few hundred dollars for application and fees to get net miter installed .so we getting green OK

    @Raezerfist Right I think it is great. I live in Seattle we only get about 30 sunny days a year. Winter time is very cold and dark, and I would like battery power to last a few months. Is that possible now a days, and if not when will it last a winter, so I dont have to burn fuel to live?

  6. Raezerfist says:

    @MrAppleseed88

    Use a grid tied inverter to convert your generated electricity into useable AC. Use the grid as your battery system and watch your electric bills pay YOU instead of them.

    solar will do us no good
    we need to fix our polution problem now, if we get jump to solar too fast well imagine 10billion trash being dump by next year.

    This is great, but we need a batty system so we can run energy all night long. I work nights and sleep during the day. I am up all night on my days off. I need energy at night. What type of battery packs do we have to capture this energy and use later? How long will they last, how do we maintain them and keep them operational? What would the service life be? 40 years, 80 years? We need battery packs to last life times.

    @srobidoux i still think people are afraid and kinda self sinister about having it better. imagine having a car that ran during the day and at the same time held even more energy in a battery for the night. people like dealing with gasoline, gas stations, etc. gives them a reason to bitch and stress. but solar powered cars would also prevent explosions and reduce air pollution. probably too much politics involved too.

  10. srobidoux says:

    @lester5192 I’m all for alternate energy, and solar will eventually be accepted. But my understanding is that solar intensity of 100W per sq meter is considered good. One kilowatt for the size of the lens he was showing seems high by almost a factor of 10. If a system so small could do what he’s saying, I think solar would have been much more successful already. Anybody got some proven numbers?

  11. lester5192 says:

    obviously people need to give solar energy a chance. just like all science it’s not perfected over night.
    people are just afraid of the idea of not relying on the electric company and gas companies as a standard way.

    @xmicaahx It absorbs heat energy from the rays of the sun! :D

    take those panels and put them in the basement.first you take a parabolic solar concentrator and put an robotic arm on it to follow the suns path.then make the focal point a mirrored shape cone that will send the light down through mirrored glass tubing straight into a mirrored shape glass box inside the mirrored shape box will be several solar panels that spin to keep them cool the mirrored box must have the mirrors inward to reflect the light sending from the parabolic focal point.ken van horn
